About Us
Let's Meet
Hello!
I am Heidi, and I want to share with you the story of the birth of Kodu.
My journey into the world of jewelry was quite unexpected: I have a doctorate degree in chemistry and I work as a researcher at a university on a daily basis. The idea of "Kodu" came when I was a postdoctoral fellow in the United States. After finalizing my postdoc, my dear friend gave me a Rhode Island state ornament adorned with a heart over the city of Providence— commemorating the city I stayed in while working there. This gift was very meaningful to me and warmed my heart. I thought that there are definitely other people besides me who would like to have their home or something so dear close to their heart. It was during this time as a researcher overseas, that the essence of kodu, derived from this transcultural gift of familiarity and longing, began to take root.
Born in Saaremaa, Estonia, I have always felt a strong pride towards the island. Thus, my friends gift inspired me to make myself a necklace with the shape of Saaremaa; and soon after, others followed— giving birth to the Kodu collection.
‘Kodu’ means ‘home’ in the Estonian language. The jewelry collection Kodu is dedicated to the special love we feel for our physical and ephemeral home. Home is a place we always carry in our hearts, and our collection exists to celebrate those everlasting, endless connections with you.
The jewelry is suitable for wearing by patriots of the homeland, as well as Estonians abroad who honor a strong connection with their roots.
We guarantee that all our products are 100% genuine.
The material of the jewelry is Argentium Sterling Silver 925.
I hope you enjoy the jewelry as much as I do.
Wear home close!
